ExAqua Research

The flow of thought
ExAqua pursues the goal of generating a basis for decision-making in terms of resource and development economics, developing options for action, steering implementations and evaluating realizations. Quantitative analytical competence with a profound business and economic foundation is the maxim of the institute, embedded in the premises of ecological responsibility, political feasibility and social compatibility.

ExAqua Research was established as a spin-off of the IHS Institute for Advanced Studies with a core competence specifically in water management and more generally in resource economics. The institute acts as a resource and development economics complement to the internationally recognized water technology expertise of European institutions.

Outstanding elements of the model portfolio are the ExAqua “ViWa” model (Neptun Water Price Nominee 2007), which generates implicit water export and import balances, as well as financial valuation and trade models for natural resources (water, timber).

Current Projects

  • The implementation of the LEADER project “LEIN(en) LOS! Innovative flax products in the region” is being funded as part of the Austrian Rural Development Program - project type 19.2.1. The project focuses on the production of an innovative and new gelling agent from flax. The aim is to generate sustainable effects for the entire Villach-Umland region by optimizing the upstream and downstream value chain from agriculture to use in a wide variety of products.
